Interpersonal Attraction
Interpersonal attraction is a category under attraction and is defined as the attraction between people which can lead to friendships or romantic relationships. Interpersonal relationship is related to how much we like, love, dislike or hate someone. There are actually many factors leading to this type of attraction :-
- PHYSICAL ATTRACTIVENESS - perception of the physical traits of an individual human person. It has a significant effect on how people are valued in terms of their social behaviour and others.
- PROPINQUITY - refers to physical or psychological proximity between two people. Foe example, two people studying in the same classroom will have a higher propinquity than those stdying in the same college.
- COMPLEMENTARITY - people seek others and characteristics that are different from nd complement their own. (opposites attract )
- SIMILARITY - similarity comes in different aspects and may include attitude, personality, interests, social skills and others.
